During the closing ceremony of the three days course, the president of EOC, Mr.
Berhane Kidanemariam stated that the participants of the course are expected to
play significant roles in the preparations of the team for the London 2012
Olympic Games participation of Ethiopia. He added that the trainees also have
professional responsibilities in ensuring the welfare and success of the
Ethiopian athletes and also promote sport nobility and EOC will continue giving
different supports.
Concerning the utilization of prohibited drugs, doping, the president said, it
is one of the challenges in the sport sector. And he also accentuated the
participants to assist the Ethiopian athletes to be free from the influences of
such prohibited drugs.
The sport medicine course which was held in the town of Bishoftu, Oromiya
Regional State, was attended by sport physicians, physiotherapists, and National
team coaches. Different theoretical and practical lessons were conducted by
selected professionals concerning the injury during sport activity and how to
prevent it, fighting the use of prohibited drugs, nutrition for athletes and
other related issues.
On the other hand, in an interview with the participants of the course, they
said that they have learnt a lot from the course and it will enable them to fill
the gap they lack.
In the same sport medical course which was given by EOC, around 70 professionals
participated and the organization is ready to give a training concerning sport
and environment to professionals whose number is equal to 70. EOC has designed
different programs for the participation of our country in London 2012 Olympic
Games and it is implementing this programs.
